You shouldn't feel as if you have to reach a certain number. But you shouldn't have to deny yourself enjoyment. Do whatever feels good to you but please keep your health and heart in mind before you do anything rash.

i think 1 person is great, to me it shows you dont go with anyone you feel like just for sex. Dont listen to your mates, having sex with 1 person is fine. Many 17 year olds are still virgins.

 Not sure what the answer is for this. I suppose it is whatever you feel comfortable with. you would have to take into consideration all sorts of backgrounds and weed out all sorts of variables in order to work this out.

 I don't know the average, but there's no number that you OUGHT to be at, and there's no need to count how many you've slept with. I think it's great that you haven't wasted your time sleeping around and that you've only been with one person.
I know the feeling, though. All my friends have these 10-20people lists (sometimes exceeding 20, but let's not even go there) of people they've slept with and I only have one. We're all in our twenties! I'm not an ugly girl, I'm not a (total) weirdo or anything. I just didn't want to be sleeping with a bunch of people. I was pretty happy with just my one.
I'm proud of myself, and it's nice to know that I do take sex seriously. For me, it's an emotional thing, it really is. It's special. And I sort of like it that way. I don't want it to be some 'thing' that I just 'do'. I'm worth more than that. Not just any guy can have me. No, no, no.
You be proud of yourself too. I think you're pretty cool for having only slept with one person. We should make a club or something.

 I'm with CD on this one! I had one, but a lot of my mates were bragging about their numbers - the higher they got, the less respect I held for them - when it transgressed that some of them were lying, I was puzzled to think as to why? The ones that really were clocking up the numbers, one has 3 children, and the other I didn't really want to know anymore as I didn't want t be associated with the town's bike - I know it's snotty, but it's true!
Lots of 17 year olds fib, in the misguided belief that people would admire them for having more partners than fingers.
If you want to destroy your self esteem, self respect, or to simply pick up an embarrassing infection which could provide trouble in future relationships - go right ahead and sleep around.
Be proud of only having one partner, knowing full well you are honest - and not having people talking about you behind your back!

 Well since 17 is the average age in this country to lose your virginity, combined with the fact that most people are liars about their number of sexual partners at your age I'd say one comes close enough! Sleeping around is not cool anyway. You're at increased risk of STIs and sex is never as good if you're not in love. Be proud of your one and know that you're normal!
