As well as asking for a female doctor, you could simply make an appointment to see the practice nurse as they can get you sorted onto the pill too. Dont worry, you wont need any special tests or anything embarassing.
Take care xxx

hey, there should b female doctors and "contraception nurses"
theyll basically ask you about your periods, whether your sexually active and when [if you are] you last had sex, they will prob ask you if youve used other methods of contraception, but if its privacy your worried about no one can get your records under the privacy act...
good luck

Hi
You can visit a health walk in centre and ask them for advice or take a look in the yellow pages for family planning/sexual health clinics, its all confidential and the people are very friendly and helpful (i used them all the time when i was a teenager). Also at your doctors you can request to see a female GP, i do it all the time!!
Good luck with it all
Take care

Trust me, its not as bad as you think! I was so nervous about going to the doctor to go on the pill but they have to talk to people about much more embarrassing things everyday, so they won't think aything of it! Plus they are not allowed to disclose the information to anyone as you are over 18, so dont worry about your parents finding out!
The questions they ask are not horrible to answer at all --
They ask things like:
* Will you be using the pill for birth control?
* Are you sexually active?
* Do you smoke?
* Have you ever been pregnant?
* Have you been using other forms of contraception (if you are sexually active)
Just things like that, which you pretty much have to asnwer "yes" or "no" to.
Please dont worry about it, so many woman do the same thing! Nothing to be scared about!!

Go to your nearest sexual health clinic (search for ""your town" - sexual health clinic" on google or something. They'll take your name and date of birth and ask questions like "have you had sex before", "are you on any other medication" etc.
I'm not certain but I think the prescription still has to go through your GP anyway, so why not just go to your doctors surgery and ask for a female doctor to see you. This would be better as they have all your medical records so can see which pill is best for you
