What motivates a guy to be nice to his ex?

Hi, Aunties! Thanks in advance for reading--

I'm just wondering what motivations a guy might have to be abnormally nice to his ex. He never tends to be as nice or sweet or thoughtful as he's being, except when he pretended to love me.

Could it be because my on-and-off bf of a year and a half-ish and I are actually happy together? Does he think he can be nicer if he thinks I'm over him?

Thanks again!

(by the way, I'm 16, if that matters)

Ya, that very well may be the case. He's my best friend, but he's never this considerate... And he's being better to all my girl-friends, too. I think he just misses having a gf. Thanks!

It's more likely he's just trying to keep you on a leash. You're better off just having as little to do with him as possible.
