 Frankly, I think that vanilla extract gets a bad rap when folks use the term "plain vanilla" in this manner.
Please Google "vanilla" and learn what an EXQUISITE product it is.... and how it is pervasive in so many products that we (all) like...
THEN, come back to your submittal....and decide if there REALLY IS something such as "vanilla sex".....

 Vanilla sex is sex without any kinkiness at all. It makes me think of the missionary position only, though others would have different ideas maybe.
Some people may love it and it's all they will do/ want/ have, others may find it unexciting and boring. It depends on the individual.
