 I'd be looking in all the places you can think of! Meeting through friends, activities, work and other things like that is a great way to meet people. Online is also, in fact a lot of people now (myself included!) feel its the best way as you have such a wide variety of people out there, so many you would never have met (and not because they are bad). You can get to know people by talking first for as long as you like so that you are sure you have things in common - people from the internet are no less safe than anyone else even through friends or work - there are nasty people out there it is true unfortunately, but those people also work, often have friends and activities and so on.
Find dates with people you like and just take it slowly, don't give out your address and so on until you feel it is safe to do so. Good luck with it all!

 well myspace is a good way. add people from your area and get to know them online. if you find any that you think you connect with. make arrangements. but be careful :) people may not be who you think they are. i advise taking a friend with you if you are going to meet someone online for the first time:) good luck.

 youre best bet is to try and meet people by doing hobbies or classes or even at work or through friends, now adays dating their isnt really a safe place in a sense you have to know a person to feel safe in anything, but online can be slightly less safe as you never know the whole truth though sometimes works for some but not for everyone hope this helps xxx
