What do men think about "scruffy" women?

Hi - I am a bit of a hippy chic who goes to a lot of gigs/festivals with other hippyish friends. I have never been particularly smart (eg glossy hair/perfect nails) and even if I wanted to I'm never good with my hair! The thing is men do comment on me being good looking and having big boobs etc etc - but in the same breath say I'm a bit scruffy - so I was wondering what men really think and do any men like "scruffy" women??

Thanks for all your answers!! - Ha! - I am clean and my clothes are neat enough - I just meant I have a hippyish look with longish hair etc - so I just wondered what guys would think in general - as I'm seeing a man who is very into all his designer gear etc so we are very different in that way so I just wonder if my appearance would put him off!!

SirenaBlusera agony auntWhat's wrong with looking hippyish? That doesn't necessarily mean scruffy. I always favored the hippy look, so did a lot of friends of mine. I think that you could easily attract a guy with similar interests.

Sugarbuns agony auntWhat by definition do you mean by "scruffy"?....I've only heard that term used to describe a dog, i.e. canine. Not a human being.

It all depends on the person. Usually scruffy men like scruffy women. Some men like that look.

I like scruffy men but I'm not really scruffy at all apart from crazy hair now and again.

Scruffy women end up with scruffy men... think about it, is a polished, neat guy going to be able to introduce your to his freinds, his parents, his boss? It may work on TV (Darma and Greg), but in real life you're setting the tone for the guys who you're going to attract- and it's not all about great tits... those guys are short timers...

A male reader, Neboraic United Kingdom +, writes (19 March 2010):

As long as you are not too scruffy then its ok. Is better if its part of a lifestyle (like in your case) rather than sheer laziness.

On the other end of the scale, i dont like girls who are too girly, who fuss too much about their looks, who are mostly articficial (nails, hair breasts) or people who are afraid of getting a little dirty. That all works in your favour.

You may not win the majority of men over but there will always be someone interested.
