If you meet a girl that already likes you enough, it will not matter. At least, not at first. In time though, it will cross her mind, at least in part, as to why you would not have found a woman that would have wanted to date you more.
If she does not like you that much right away, it will make her wary.
Assumptions about you will include: you are struggling with homosexuality, you are impotent, you are a mammas boy, you are lousy at sex, you are afraid, you just do not like her enough, you have an disease, you are socially abnormal in some fashion.
It is less of an issue in the teens and early twenties. But after the age of 25 (my work shows this to be a key age factor) women start to wonder what the problem is.
Women respond to men that are desired by other women. When no other women have wanted you in the past (as interpreted by you not being in a relationship ever), she starts to feel that SHE should not be into you either. That is why women tend to respond to guys that have reputations for being with lots of women.
If you are simply too shy, please understand that women do not appreciate shy guys. Because of the number of men that appraoch women (and do so in unattractive ways), women mistakely assume that there is no such thing as a shy guy, and that if a guy does not appraoch her, it is becuase he does not like her enough. A book called "The Rules" actually pushed this concept.
If there is even one girl that you know that would like to date you, then date her. You need the relationship experience.
