Aswell as a UTI as Lexie88 said, i would be tested for throid problems however losing that amount of hair at a time is normal and unless people are looking for problems genearlly dont notice

 It could be a UTI, a urinary tract infection...easily treated if caught early.
It could however be many things. The best thing you can do for her is to encourage her to see a doctor, go with her and wait with her in the waiting room if you want.
It's best she sees a doc nowbecause it could make a turn for the worst and it's probably something that's easily treatable if looked at early.
