Pheromones are believed to cause the attraction, dopamine is the "love drug" that makes you feel in love with the person. It is believed that every single emotion is the result of a chemical reaction of petpides in the hypothalmus which I think is in the centre of the brain. So if a guy tends to "push" the right buttons you can be more attracted to him than others. As a guy I can't say Iv'e ever felt "intoxicated" but I definately have a pleasant warmish feeling

I find that if I put enough wine, vodka or scotch in to a woman's body, I will usually get a chance to see if I love her, later that evening......
P.S. It's not really a PERFECT method... but who would dispute that "love" is a fleeting and hard-to-describe concept??????
Good luck....

But the idea of chemistry with someone is not meant like that, it's just a matter of taste, just because you click with a person doesn't mean they're right for you.
There are a lot of people who believe in some spiritual connection, some higher power or some specific chemical that alerts us but neuroscience is pretty clear that it's just a chemical reaction based on a psychological set of conditions that are stimulated by external stimuli.
Now I know you asked about sex but there are similar chemicals involved in love, the wikipedia page has a good list of the appropriate ones.

Is there a chemical that alerts us? No, but there are people/situations etc that can stimulate our bodies to produce certain amounts of certain chemicals that provide a profound emotional response psychologically. Doesn't mean the person is right for us or that they can even stimulate those again.
