It's nice when you hands are placed on her waist, or with your arms under hers, with your hands gently placed on her back. Girls getting a first-kiss, even one more experienced, might like being asked first. That eliminates clumsiness, awkwardness, or a slap!

Wrap them around your girlfriend's waist. Hold her face. Stroke her hair. Hug her. Put them on her shoulders. As the relationship grows and you become more comfortable with each other, you will find new places to put them.
Do whatever feels most natural. Just don't do NOTHING.
