I know this may not be a relevant question to this website, but i don't know where else to turn to!

I allowed my mother to dye my hair a mohogany colour, previously to what i'd had a few months back, however this was a different brand and it's too red - it came in a mouuse form and she applied way too much to my hair! It's a wash-out one (thankfully) but as it fades, will it become pink?? I really want it a medium brown now cos i know it suits me!

I just want rid of the red all together so i can dye it a brown! Or if there's any products i could use to reduce the brightness of the colour?

Thanks

DrPsych agony auntTemporary colours will wash out and they also fade as you shampoo your hair. You could dye your hair with a permanent product if you are desperate but it might not take too well if you already have another product on your hair. If you can afford it, go to a hairdresser who has some expertise in colouring. Otherwise, hold tight as those temp colours don't last too long.

saltwater agony auntThere isn't much you can do other than frequent washing of your hair which will fade it a little...I doubt it will become pink....it usually just becomes a "dull" colour.

There isn't anything special you can buy to reduce the brightness.

Did you have to bleach your hair first? If you did then the dye won't come out easily....but you say it's a wash out mousse so shouldn't it just wash straight out after 1 wash without leaving any dye left...?

Don't worry, everyone has a hair calamity at some point in their life....I once bleached my hair wayyyyy too much and

it looked like I had a 1000W bulb permanently on my head!

I dye my hair a lot, and I've found that, with red dyes, usually if you go over them with brown ones it's ok. However, if you're uncomfortable or worried that this won't work, you could try dying your hair a darker shade of brown, which will cover the red if you use a good brand (the good ones are usually the most popular) and then work your way up to medium brown by gradually using lighter colours. Good luck with this, and I hope I've been able to help instead of just rambling on like I usually do! :)

Emaz help agony auntIm a hairdresser

As its a wash in was out one then it should all be out within a few washes but yes, after the first wash it will fade and could go a pinky colour but id propose that you wash your hair twice a day until it's out if you really hate it that much!

But only use a slight bit of conditioner

I wouldn't dye your hair again until it's all out and then you should wait a few days for your hair to restore back to its natural PH level which can be helped by using conditioner

Hope i've helped and i wouldn't worry too much
