He is aware that I am taken, but he is quite persistant and very unsubtle. Its a bit off-putting and now its becoming a proper conversation topic between me and my best friend. What can I do, and why is he doing this regardless?

HE IS A MAN ! I HAVE GUYS HIT ON ME QUITE FREQUENTLY EVEN THO I LET IT BE KNOWN I AM TAKEN. THIS WILL NEVER CHANGE. I GET THIS,"ARE U MARRIED?" NO! "U GOT A BOYFRIEND?" YES! "O, WELL U ARE NOT MARRIED SO Y DONT U GIVE ME YOUR NUMBER, YOUR BOYFRIEND WONT FIND OUT" THEN I LAUGH and WALK AWAY. IT WILL NEVER END. ANYWAY, IF U WERE THAT WORRIED ABOUT IT U WOULD TELL YOUR BOYFRIEND -OR- TELL YOUR "FRIEND" OFF !!!

You have to tell him firmly that you have absolutely no intention of doing anything with him what so ever, and it's not funny anymore. If he still persists, ignore him when it starts off. And if he still carries on tell him you're sick and tired of it and you had enough. You may have to be snappy too. But it's probably necessary in order for him to get the hint. Whatever you do don't play along with his flirtation or show any interest because he'll probably see it as a green light for another attempt. Hope that works for you!
