We have discussed this many times and done a lot of research. I found out that he's very worried about the side effects of the Pill and what it would do to me. Can someone who has been on the Pill or knows someone that has, help me? What, exactly, are the side effects? Do you have any advice? Please?

The "pill" contains progesterone, a hormone normally secreted by the ovaries and adrenal glands (also the placenta during pregnancy) to regulate growth of the uterus lining. When taken by pill or injected, it tricks the reproductive system into a false state of pregnancy and prevents ovulation. Earlier forms of the pill (1960s) sometimes produced side effects, but few women report adverse side effects these days.

well I have been on the pill for about 6 years now and it has only ever been a help to me rather than causing any side effects. There are lots of different types of pill, all which do the same basic job but have different properties; for example the one I'm on now helps my skin so I dont get spots and oily skin etc. Talk to your doctor and explain what you are worried about, they will know the best type for you to go on. If you are worried about forgetting to take it then you can get an injection once every 3 months; this is the exact same chemicals/hormones as in the pill but in an injection form.Well done for being safe, it is great to finally see a sensible young person on here! Go have a chat with your doctor, they will be the best person to get you on a pill that suits you. Good luck!

It helps with periods, you know when they will be they wont be heavy and they are less painful. It is a good idea, go to your doctor or local family planning clinic and they will tell you more.
