MissKin agony auntThe website Mandy has provided provides the main reasons why you could miss a period, so it's worth a look. As for why stress causes a missed period...

I think it's something to do with a psychological thing. When you become stressed your body creates an imbalance of hormones which control your menstrual cycle so when these become unbalanced your period goes a bit out of control.

This is easily combated (or not so easily in some cases) by just relaxing, learning to let your stress leave your mind and body and chilling out. Once you're feeling less stressed, your menstrual cycle should return to semi-normal. If you are experiencing a missed period and know you're not pregnant but you're still worried, i suggest seeing a doctor.

Don't worry about it too much but get it checked out if it continues.

Best wishes,

Miss Kin.
