What are some of the things that make women fall out of love with men, and not want to have sex anymore?

When you were in a committed relationship and for some reason, things just started to go downhill.

Thanks!

A female reader, Too Sensitive United States +, writes (9 February 2009):

I think the biggest reason is b/c there is an issue or problems that fester over time and go unresolved, b/c they are not communicated. One partner may be feeling neglected but never communicates this to the other, so the other has no idea there's even a problem to begin with.

The problem could be that one partner begins to take the other and the relationship for granted. Ways of taking things for granted include getting too comfortable, when you stop showing appreciation for what you have, and think that it will always be there. You stop giving the other person genuine compliments. You stop doing little things for them. Then they begin to think you are no longer interested, and they begin to suffer. The downward spiral begins.

Catching a partner in a lie and dishonesty can also hugely and negatively impact a relationship. The trust is then shattered and replaced with ongoing suspicion about what else they may have lied about, or may be lying about. No matter how much it pains someone, they should always answer truthfully to their partner's questions. One should never try to hide who they really are from the other.

Some people sabotage relationships, b/c they harbor fear...even though this fear is conflicting to what they truly want, and becomes a roadblock to what they really want. Some people, though they seek commitment and want commitment, also fear commitment. They fear vulnerability and exposing themselves to another, for fear of being hurt by the other. When this fear takes over, they begin behaving in hurtful ways within the relationship. They will intentionally push the other's buttons. They will enter a cycle of push forward, pull away, push forward, pull away, for they are at odds within themselves.

A lack of respect can also affect things. Sometimes a partner will flirt with another, or look inappropriately at others in a sexual way. This shows lack of respect, and in most cases causes their partner to feel humiliated, insulted, disrespected, and hurt. Glancing in the direction of another is one thing, but going out of your way to get a look and also staring are quite another.

I also think it's important for both partners to have a life outside the relationship, instead of fostering co-dependency on one another, which is not healthy. Put your partner first, and make time for your partner above all else, but don't neglect friendships, hobbies, family, other interests, etc. It can be a tricky balance to strike, but it can be done!

Right, well here is the story. My girlfriend and I are very happy. And I'd like to keep it that way. So I'm taking precautionary measures to keep things going well. I want to know why so many relationships fail. I've looked into my own as well, and found that the main reason was distance, that my relationships never seemed to work out.

I've found a wonderful woman, and I'd like things to stay as wonderful as they are. I always put her needs, and pleasure before my own, and let her know how desirable she is, with romance and dinners, and all the things that women love.

I just want to make sure I'm doing everything possible to maintain the health of our relationship.

Thanks

There can be lots of reasons for both and you'll have to take a deeper look into your relationship for your specific reasons, then talk to her about it.

Have you tried spicing things up? I mean if it's a long term relationship then it is easy to get caught up in routine and not do anything exciting and different.

She could be tired a lot from work or taking care of kids etc.

A reader, anonymous, writes (9 February 2009):

Hmmm gosh, hard to say because their could be so many reasons!

-Sometimes a woman's hormones change and can take a dip, and the frequency of sex becomes less and this is normal. However if it is non-existant and the woman shrugs of her mans advances nine time's out of ten she might need to see a doctor to get her hormone levels tested.

-She could be stressed, lacking sleep or a change in lifestyle could affect her desire.

- She could just have fallen out of love. It happens.

- Her man might have changed, become overweight, not looking after himself. Or he might not be making her feel special or desired. It doesn't really matter what men look like in the long run. Women need to feel desired and cared about. Men need to express affection and consideration, do loving things spontaneously. Not because they want sex but because they want their women to feel loved.

There are lots of reasons. The best answer is to ask the lady in question and ask for her honesty.
