It varies. Do not choose to do it because your "friends have." Its a gift you can only give once, never forget that.
I have heard countless women say to me they wish they waited longer. I have never once heard a woman say they lost it earlier. Not once.

In the U.S., the "National Center for Health Statistics" reports are usually accepted as reliable. Their Report Number 26, of Data Series 23, can be found at http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/series/sr_23/sr23_026.pdf . Table 13, on page 44, shows that about half of all guys have lost their virginity by the time they are a little over 17 years old. But at age 22, about 15% of all men (and, almost 20% of never-married men!) are still virgins. Table 22 (page 53) indicates that a lot of guys who are married by age 24, waited until a month (or less) of being married before they had sex.
For women, the comparable information is found in Report Number 25 of Data Series 23. Table 32, on page 71, shows that about half of all girls have also lost their virginity by the time they are a little over 17 years old. About 10% of all 22 year old girls (and about 12% of never-married 22 year old girls) are still virgins. So 22 year old virgin girls are less common than 22 year old virgin guys, but for either sex virgins are a minority, but a very significant minority, at age 22. Table 41 (page 80) indicates that almost 20% of girls who are married by age 24, waited until a month (or less) of being married before they had sex.
(My wife and I were both 23 when we gave each other our virginity on our wedding night.)

Statistics mean nothing to the individual dude... It's about when you're ready and when you find yourself in a situation where you actually get to make that choice.

I'd say around 20-25 years old, but many of my older friends are still virgin too. They treat virginity as a gift they'll bestow upon their soul mate, and I think the idea is kind of sweet. What do you think?
Say…some of your friends are not virgins anymore, well; you do not need to lose it too, just to keep up with the “trend”. Lose it when you feel like you find someone you want to spend your lifetime with.
Bottom line is, NO ONE will ever think less of you just because you are a virgin.

In the US the average age is 16. Several of my friends are in their early 20's and haven't lost theirs. They aren't waiting for marriage, they're very attractive and popular, they just haven't had a want to do it yet. Age shouldn't be a factor in virginity losing and waiting doesn't mean anything about your attractiveness or personality, it just means you haven't found someone you trust enough yet.
