Was this my period starting or did I bleed because I had not had sex for 5 years?

My period was due to come on. I had no sign that it was getting ready to come on, so i decided to have sex a new guy i been dating. I have not had sex in 5 years, While having sex a i started gussing blood every where. I assume it was my period, but it only lasted for one day. My period normally last 3-4 days. My question is was this my period starting or due to me not having sex for 5 years.
