writes: is it possible for me to be pregnant? i had unprotected sex(yes i know, its my bad so no lectures or rants please) a week ago yesterday, last sunday, the 15th november, took immediate action by going to the local minor injuries unit to get the morning after pill on the tuesday as i was otherwise very busy and had no time to spare whatsoever on the monday, they could not give it to me as i had a situation where i needed it 2 weeks before because the condom split, therefore it was in the same cycle, and that was thier reason for not being able to give it to me, but i was sat watching TV this saturday just gone, and i started feeling very familiar cramp-like pains i would get if i was having a period, i needed the loo about an hour and a half after these pains came on, and i realised i was bleeding, i had a huge rush of relief, and i went to use a tampon, i have been bleeding ever since, just like i would if i was having a normal period, ive had the moodyness, the flare-up of acne and the cramps as i mentioned, but i want to know if this is my actual period or something else? should i take a pregnanacy test still just in case?

If it feels like a normal period and is occurring at normal period time then it's probably a normal period. Having taken the morning after pill previously may have screwed up your cycle a bit though.
Some women bleed when a fertilised egg is implanting but it's usually "different" to a normal period - lighter and shorter than normal.
Taking a pregnancy test is one way to be sure but I think it's not that likely you are pregnant.
In the future, you might want to consider trying to get an emergency appointment with your G.P if you are turned down for emergency contraception again. Walk-in centres and minor injury units in the UK are often staffed exclusively by nurses who can only provide medications under a strict set of guidelines. For example, nurses aren't allowed to give out the morning after pill to women who are epileptic or, as in your case, have taken it before within a certain time-frame. Doctors, however, don't have to stick so rigidly to these guidelines so your own G.P may have prescribed it for you. It should have also been possible for you to have a coil inserted instead (which can be inserted up to 5 days after unprotected sex). I am surprised the minor injuries clinic did not refer you on to your local contraceptive service.
It sounds like you need to start using a back-up method of contraception on top of the condoms. Go to your local coucil's homepage and search for "sexual health services" or google "contraception and sexual health clinics" (cash) and your local area. They should be able to give you really good advice. I was really impressed by my local service recently
