A female Ireland age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hello agony aunts and uncles,

Ok so I was out the other night with a friends and her boyfriend in the same bar as this guy we went to school with years ago. We never chatted in school but knew of each other. Anyways he was really drunk and it took him 20 minutes to put on his jacket but he never went home. After a while he started trying to walk around and took off his jacket because some of his friends arrived. He was messing and fooling and whatever way he fell back he sort of came down on me and my friend but luckily we kept him standing. He proceeded to say apologize and then blurted out that he loved me twice and tried to chat but had far too much drink taken. People often say that a drunk mouth speaks a sober honest mind. I'm unsure as to whether or not he was serious. I've bumped into him since but all we've done is smiled and said hello. Can someone please translate for me?

Atsweet1 agony auntIts true normally a drunk mind does speak honestly. Its like truth serum. If he adores you then take it at that he adores you.

He was drunk and horny so he told you what he thought you wanted to hear hoping it would be enough to get into your pants.

Well he sounded really drunk if he took 20 minutes to put his coat on.We all know booze gives us dutch courage and gets us to say things we wouldn't say when sober.I've seen drunks go around the pup trying to kiss all the women saying "I love you" to all of them....but you'll never know in this case!He could be a secret admirer.

A reader, anonymous, writes (31 December 2013):

In this situation it's safe to say he was just saying he loved you out of drunkenness and not truth.

He could barely stand and was in a world of his own. He probably doesn't even remember all that.

YouWish agony auntHeh, translation: "I am blackout drunk and my hormones have taken over my vocal abilities".

Take whatever he said with a grain of sale - he could have been momentarily attracted to you in the heat of the drunken moment.
