TT agony auntI've been with my guy just a little longer than two months; so i get where you're coming from. I am also in the same financial situation.- i figure something like cologne isn't too sappy...but then it's not personal in any way (and we all like a bit of romance)- plus he probably has a 100 bottles of the stuff. My guy LOVES chew bars; like black jacks and fruit salads, fizzy gums etc. I intend to get a red box from a greeting cards store, and fill it with inexpensive little things that he'll love- i intend to load it up with his favourite candy, burn a song onto a disc that he loves, throw in a miniture whiskey that he drinks and a picture that will relate to a private joke of ours.....I hope it goes down well. I think it's a little bit inventive- not expensive in the least- and most importantly he will appreciate it. Something like that can be much more romantic (and NOT sappy). Hope this helps!! happy Valentines!

lacexoxo22 agony auntWell considering that you haven't been together that long, I would find a nice, cute blank card and write my own little message in it so it's not too "soppy". And it you don't have that much money you could do a few things. Buy him lunch, get him a c.d he likes, buy him a hat or shirt with his favorite sports team on it, his favorite cologne if it's not too expensive (like surve or something they have at wal-mart), deoderant, socks, boxers. Any of those would do fine I'm sure. It's hard to say cause I don't know him and I don't know what he likes...but just think of the his favorite food, color, song, artist, actor, band, cologne, sports team, etc and I'm sure you can come up with something cute and clever. Good luck, hope this helps.
