For about 5 years or possibly more i startec to develop dark hair on my belly! Im extremley embarressed about this as i feel its not normal for a girl to get this?! I have tried to shave it and even wax strips but it just comes back! I cant show my partner as i feel so insecure about it and wouldnt know where to begin? I have never ever told anyone and the thought of people seeing it makes me feel sick! Im out of ideas on how to get rid of it or even judt to make it look better? I was thinking about buying a home laser kit is that a good idea? Is it common or am i completly on my own with this? Please help me.

I got the 3 o'clock shadow-extended happy trail on my stomach right around the age of 22. I thought I was done with puberty at 16.

I drove me insanse. Whatever you do, don't shave it!. I don't even recommend waxing, because even that distorts the follicle and gane make it ingrown. The hairs there tend to get ingrown (since pubic hair may have more of a curl) and them you get permanent scars. I learned this the hard way.

What I have done is laser and electrolysis. I started with laser (didn't work) and graduated to electrolysis which is working great (and is cheaper).

Good luck.

Nair cream works well also... i have hair on my belly too and i hate it. I nair once a week or so.. you'll get used to it. I want a lazer kit myself so that is also an option.

We are mammals after all. We have hair on every inch of our skin. It is perfectly normal. I noticed after I had a child my hormones were changing and the line of hair on my belly became very dark. Its pretty normal and not at all a big deal. Get it waxed, its less noticible than shaving and having all that stubble! When i go for a bikini wax my waxer automatically takes care of that too! I never even had to ask, its that common on women. If your man loves you, then he loves your hair too!

the important thing to do is not to shave it or wax it it comes back darker and thicker. i have a dark snail trail on my belly i tryed to shave it too but my mum said that it would only get worse if i did. my partner dosent mind it he likes it. if ur partner loves you then he wont care about the flaws that you see. he will love you for who you are. i was stood in front of mirror and told to pick ten things about my body that i liked and i focused on making them look better instead of focusing on the thing i didnt like. i think a laser removal kit would be a good idea if will help boost ur confidence and self esteem just remember to read the intructions :) good luck xx

AshyCole agony auntwell, its not particularly commen, bt it's not un heard of either. if you feel you need to buy a lazer kit, make sure it's a good one and be prepared and know about the potential dangers and negative side effects that can be caused. I know how embarassing things like that can be. i have a skin condition called vityligo (i think thats how its spelled) where i loose the color of my skin in random places, and theres no cure. no basically i have irreversable white splotcheson my chest =/ and i know i wanted to get rid of it, even with tattoos. so if you really feel you just need to get the hair removal kit, do what you need to do to feel better about yourelf :) as long as you know that with or without the hair your still beautiful

A female reader, confusoholic Ireland +, writes (20 January 2011):

confusoholic agony auntDO consult a doc first.

The hair maybe due to a hormonal prob like irregular monthly cycle or thyroid...once you know the cause you can start the treatment if the doc prescribes medicine.

Then GO n get the hair zapped away thru a laser clinic...i wont recommend getting it done yourself.

Meanwhile - don't shave it - WAX it - that's the best way to make the hair growth less ...

And don't worry, u'll be fine soon. :)
