Unhealthy to immediately kiss after oral sex?

I've heard that it can be really 'unhygenic' if you have oral sex and kiss immediately afterwards. Obviously I don't need an explanation as to why lol, but was wondering if there's any risk of catching something (not neccessarily STDs) and if there was anything in particular you needed to watch out for.

STD's can be passed whenever precautions are not used. If you have to use a dam or condom during oral sex, you shouldn't kiss the person afterwards if bodily fluids can be passed. Although there are more germs in the mouth than on your sexual organs, you need to know where your mouth has been.

If you're giving head or receiving head, if you partner can handle the fluid, kiss them. Kissing after oral sex is the same as giving head, you do what each other is comfortable with. Personally, I don't mind kissing him lightly after he does me because I'm not partial to the taste of pussy. On the other hand, I don't expect him to kiss me with cum on my lips after I do him because I'd think he had bi-sexual tendencies, so wipe you face and enjoy the intimate moments of kissing.

Logically, he can't pass on to you something you've already got that you passed on to him, so the only way you'd catch something from him is if he had it before you - like cold sores or a dose of the 'flu for example - or maybe something more serious like an STD - but he'd have to already have it. I hope that's clear.

Honeypie agony auntIt would be "her" own body fluids, so nope. Nothing she didn't have before.

OK, so say if the guy performed oral sex on the girl then kissed her, could the girl catch anything from him?

Kissing afterwards can't possibly be any more unhygienic than the act itself! If you've both 'spruced up' with good old soap and water beforehand I don't see any problem with it, with one exception - which is if the woman is menstruating at the time. I don't know if that would be unhygienic so much as disgusting.

Dogs don't appear to suffer any ill effects anyway!

A female reader, Honeypie United States +, writes (21 January 2009):

Honeypie agony auntNo and yes. With a steady partner it's not unhealthy. Bu if there are STD's or STI's (sexually trasnmitted infections) involved, and if there is you shouldn't even do oral with out using protection.

At anytime you are doing unprotected sex ( yes, oral with out condom or likewise is unprotected sex).

STI's that are commonly caught through oral sex are:

chlamydia,

gonorrhoea,

genital herpes, and

syphilis.

Infections that are less frequently passed on through oral sex include:

HIV,

hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C,

genital warts, and

pubic lice

Thrush is not a sexually transmitted infection (STD) because many people already have a small amount of it in their bodies. It is actually more common in men who are not sexually active. The infection can, however, be passed on through sex.

PunkyPippi agony auntHmmm.. I'm no expert, but I would make sure they don't have any herpes outbreaks, and no cuts inside of either of your mouths.
