a relationship is serious from the beginning if both people feel that it is. my friend has been dating a guy for about 6 months as well but as soon as it started it was the main thing in her life, the most 'serious' thing in her life. Its serious if u want it to be.
As for the l-word if you feel ready, say it, first time say it casually in a situation where he doesnt have to answer. for example say it quietly when out with some friends and then ask another person a question not giving him the chance to reply. Get him used to it before you put him in a situation where he knows you expect and answer.
