I just started working at Taco Bell because Im a 21 yr old college student and I needed a job with flexible hours plus I have two out of country trips so I need a flexible job. Ok so here's the problem. The hiring manager was really nice to me at first and we got along well but other people were giving hints that she was mean and rude but I didnt witness done to me so I didnt believe it. Until one day I was 15 minutes late for because I thought i had to be at work at 5:30 but it ended up being at 5:15 but i arrived on time at the time I thought I was suppose to. But oh my goodness she went clear off on me!! And ever since then she has been terribly mean to me to the point that she made me cried at work!!! She is so rude to me and treats me evil. Even the other managers have noticed and came to me to say "If you need anything just come to me because I wont yell at you" !! And now she is giving me like 2 days a week and Im a full time student and a full time mom! She has complete screwed me over for absolutely no valid reason. What should I do? I would love to find another job but I will be going to Spain in May for 3 weeks and it wouldnt be a smart move to get a new job before my job. But its getting really tense now should i wait and just deal with it or just look for a new job anyway. Bc personally they dont pay me enough to be treated so harshly.. they only pay ($7.25/ pr hour)

I realize you're leaving town in May, but why wouldn't it be possible to start looking?
I wouldn't get a new job and THEN tell them about your trip AFTER they hired you. That would be a mistake.
But why couldn't you do this: Just start looking for other jobs, and when you get an interview, just tell them upfront that you're gonna be out of town for 3 weeks in May. If they say in advance that they're okay with it, then no worries.

Eventhough she's your boss you do have a right to defend yourself. If you feel you did nothing wrong then speak up. If you feel you're being treated unfairly with the yelling or they are overworking you when you agreed to flexible hours speak up. When my boss tries to blame me for something and I know I did it right I get a little angry and I tell him that I did it right and if you need me to fix it then just ask and that's it end of story. Just don't stand there and take it from your boss. You are a human being with equal rights and you shouldn't be treated that way. You can alway file a complaint to someone who is above her. The worst thing you can do is not do anything about it. Good luck to you and I hope this will give you motivation to do well in school and get a better job.

See if you can report her for this to another manager or someone even further up. And don't be afraid to have a real go at her if she has a go at you either. That's hard, but I did it once and it calmed my boss down. She's just a bully.
