A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

Hey there, I feeling a bit let down by friends right now. A few days ago i told my friends i was a virgin (I'm 19). It's something i dont have a problem with and im quite proud of myself for not sleeping around and having one night stands. I feel like there totally judging me now though. I feel quite hurt when they seem to bring up conversations and completely exclude me .. and its surprsingly odd how they now seem to want to talk about sex 24/7 around me. Why would they do that? :S Thanks.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (19 July 2007):

I can only presume that they want you to have sex so that youre then on the same level as them. At the moment you have your virginity that you can give to your future husband on your wedding night. It's something that they will never be able to do , so it's no wonder they are a wee bit jealous , maybe....

A reader, anonymous, writes (10 July 2007):

There is a chance that their excessive talk of sex isn't really excessive. When I was that age it was almost the only subject of conversation. In other words maybe they have always talked like this and you just never noticed before. But if you know that they were not like this before then either ignore them and change the subject or try to find a better class of friend.

Peterk5699 agony auntI know how you feel, I'm the same age and get exactly the same sort of reactions. I know it's kinda hard in your case but if anyone asks if you're a virgin just turn and walk away and they'll get bored.

It is childish what they are doing and are probably the type that sleeps around as much as poss. Just don't fall into the trap of thinking you're being forced to have sex for the sake of it to be "cool". Sleeping around certainly isn't a cool thing to do.

You should be prouud of what you are: a virgin and obviously a much smarter person than others by not sleeping with anything that moves. I know I'm proud to be a virgin and you should be too.

Hope this helped

flower girl agony auntIt's very childish behaviour on their part and i would try to ignore it.

So you should be proud of yourself, and if your friends were honest with themselves they are probably jealous because i know i wish i had waited.

Just don't let them know it gets to you otherwise they will do it all the more.

Take care.xx.

A male reader, Danielepew Mexico +, writes (9 July 2007):

Danielepew agony auntMaybe they want to make fun of you. But I think the choice is yours, and they should respect it. You aren't doing anything wrong; they are.

I'm afraid they would play mind games on you if you complained about this; if I were you, I would go away each time they talk about this subject. That would let them know they are offending you.

Hope this helps.
