Hello all,

My favourite teacher at school is soon to be expecting his wife to have a newborn baby boy.

I really want to congratulate him, and came up with one idea.

However I'm not sure if it's inappropriate.

I was thinking perhaps I could buy him a 'congratulations' card, but then I thought.. Would this be too cheesy or something?

I need some advice.

Help?

Gabrielle Stoker agony auntGenerally there's no reason not to give a congratulatory card to a teacher for a happy occassion in his/her family.

Chippy334 agony auntAs a soon to be teacher it's not inappropriate at all....favorite teacher or not. I got one of my teachers a card and clothes for her baby when she had one. I also bought a condolence card when a teacher's parent died. Not inappropriate at all...just as long as you have that kind of student-teacher relationship where it is acceptable to him.

dmartin89 agony auntI think buying a card and getting your class to all sign it is a good idea.

Or sign it from your family i.e.

Congratulations on the birth of your son,

Kindest wishes, The Williams Family.

I think i would be a little inaproppriate if it were just from you though..he might get the wrong idea.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a congratulations card. All you're saying is "congratulations" - you're not professing your undying love.

He might even appreciate it.
