Personally I have never used one (check the avatar and see why!!) but my friend is a religious user of one and she says that you dont need to turn over cos as Dr Pete said, it has lighting on both sides.
However I dont recommend you use them too often, I mean I am not saying that cos I dont need to use one, but you have to be very careful with them, I am sure your skin is fine, whats wrong with porcelain white skin, its beautiful!!! xXx

Sunbeds are a near guaranteed way to get skin cancer. Far worse than "natural" tanning in the sun.

I have found that different parts of the skin seem to burn easier, I am the same, my back, side of waist, bum, carve muscles burn easy whereas other places like my stomach don't burn so easily (yet upper chest does) Maybe it has something to do with how much muscle is under the skin.
I read a study recently that said you should use a low factor ordinary sun cream when using a sun bed. This does go against traditional instructions saying to not use any thing but this new study argues that as well as protecting you from harmful UV it also makes sure you get a more "even" and sustained tan. You'll have to spend a little longer in the sunbeds though.
