A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Okay, I have a few mixes so, I usually go on holiday back to where my mother is from which is Cyprus. I stay with my grandfather and there's this guy who lives near by. I first met him when I was about 11-12 and he was 16, I really liked him and he used to smile at me and froze the first time he saw me, we went to the beach together with my mum, his mum, his aunt, cousins ect..

When I went to Cyprus again a few months ago I saw him and he had been in the army for a while, his father invited us round to catch up and then he asked me if I wanted to go out with him as he was driving to somewhere so, I said yes. We got into the car and he started to drive then he said 'We have a while until we get to the place so, we can catch up' I said 'okay' and smiled. He asked the usual, how am I?, have I been doing anything while i've been away then, he says, 'do you have a boyfriend?' I was quite shocked as I didn't think he really liked me anymore.

So, I said, 'no, have you got a girlfriend?..I was very curious' then he said, 'no, but I have been going into town with this girl' and that point I didn't know what to say I thought he might of been interested then I wasnt sure if he really was. He was driving and conversation was little and I decided to ask him something I said, 'do you still like me?' he was sort of smiling and after a few seconds he said 'yes, yes I do' I was happy about it and then he asked me and I said I liked him too. We arrived at this restaurant/cafe thing and it was quite alive. I sat down and he sat very close and we spoke for a while and smiled at each other. I had a ring on and then he touched my hand so I took it off because I was pretty sure he was looking at the ring then, he goes 'what?' when I was handing it over to him and I said, 'you wanted to see, didn't you?' and he goes, 'oh yeah' then, as he was giving it back he says,'will you marry me?' and was smiling so I giggled because I never knew if he was serious or not.

Then his friend came. When I was flying out back to England we were invited round for goodbyes ( but i've seen them throughout the holiday ) and when it came to him we do this cheek to cheek kiss and he were all holding hands as we did it and he was letting go of my hand slowwyyyyyy..I'm not sure if he likes me or not?

dirtball agony auntMaybe, but what are you prepared to do about it? The logistics of a relationship with him would make things very difficult. Maybe you should just enjoy the flirting for what it is. I'd be hesitant to pursue this given what you've said. He is seeing a girl afterall, even if he didn't call her his girlfriend.
