It's perfectly OK to run two packets of pills together now and then to stop your period and in the pill packet the info should tell you this. Just take one packet after another without a break. I've often done this myself when I've have a holiday coming up or exams and stuff. Have a chat to your nurse at the GP surgery next time you go to fetch your prescription if you still aren't sure or have any concerns about doing this.

Anon,
If you skip the sugar pills (the ones you take during the week of your period) and take only the ones with the hormones in them the whole time w/ no break, you won't get your period. (Same thing goes with the ring - if you take the old one out and put the new one in right away, you'll not go on your period).
The only thing is that it will take a bit for your body to adjust to it. So I'm not sure if doing this would work for the upcoming week you're talking about, but if you do this for something else in the future, then it should work. The only thing is that you have to stick to this method or else your cycle will go all crazy from the hormones for a while.
My friend does this - takes the pills with no break. Her gyn actually was the one who recommended it to her. She only takes a break from doing this once a year to make sure she is having her period normally w/out the pill.
Here's a blurb from the Associated Press on your question:
"Drug makers are finding a new way to market birth-control pills: as a way to help women curb or eliminate periods.
The concept of "period management" — using hormones to alter or eliminate the menstrual cycle — has been around for years. Doctors have often adjusted birth-control pill doses to ease painful or excessive periods in women with endometriosis or other health problems affected by the menstrual cycle. Brides-to-be have long used continuous doses of birth-control pills as a way to ensure they don't have their periods on their wedding day or honeymoon week."

If you are on the combined pill don't have your seven day break when you normally have your 'bleed'. This is not a proper period anyway, and the break is only incorporated into this pill taking behaviour to make women feel more 'normal'. (I know patronising gits in the pharmacutical world)It is absolutley ok - you can actually run your packets of pills together and this will not harm you in any way. If you are still unsure see your health care provider and they will be able to explain more to you.
