Also can they be passed on by oral sex? Is a condom a good way for me to protect myself at my age? And if it can be passed on orally do you think if I was going to do something with someone they would be offended if I asked them to wear a condom? Please help. Thanks.

They're the same thing, they just recently changed them to STI's because they're saying that most of these infections can be cured since they're bacterial rather than just having some disease you can't get rid of. So, most people are used to calling them STD's because that's what they were always called, but now they're trying to change it up, whatever.
Anyway, yes you can get a disease/infection from giving oral. Yes, a condom USED PROPERLY is good for anyone at any age. And some people may be offended if you asked them to use a condom if you gave them oral sex; some may not be. Just remember that giving someone oral is still sex, so if you're not comfortable having intercourse with them, it's probably not a good idea to be giving them oral sex either.

STD and STI are the same. STD stands for sexually transmitted disease, STI stands for sexually transmitted infection. They're just different says of saying it. Certain infections such as herpes can be transmitted orally, and yes a condom can make a difference and you should use them. Any guy offended is perhaps not worth your time. You should always feel safe and comfortable.
