I don't think there's a particular cause of shyness. I believe it's just a part of your personality!
I'm a bit shy myself! however, I used to be REALLY shy. But over the years i've grown in confidence and i'm no-where near as shy as I used to be!
I think you just overcome it as you mature and get older. But additionally, I believe that the people whom you mix with is a big influence. If you have 'loud' friends and hang around with them enough, it should encourage you to come out of your shell - in comparison to mixing with those who are quiet and shy like yourself.

Shyness is not realizing that you have something special to offer people and feeling like they are better than you. It takes time to realize that this is wrong and for me it didn't come till I was out of high school and realized that the world is filled with so many different people who are all unique so you being who you want to be is the best way to fit in and people will love you for it.
Hope you can realize that you have something special for this world and that people will love you for who you are and all those who don't do not matter.

Shyness is simple drawn from inner fear. Most likely of rejection. There really is nothing to rid of it other thanto step up and try to be more bold. Take it a step at a time talking to a new person. Remember you can't fail unless you try.
