However, I normally just wear mascara (for going to school, casual hangouts, etc). We're having dinner this weekend at a casual yet dim and somewhat romantic restaurant. I look much "cuter" with natural makeup VS the "glam" party look, although I'm sure he'll like both. I'm thinking of going natural. Any suggestions/opinions? Reply to this Question Share |

Light and natural make up is what I would go with, let him see your beautiful face :) Doesn't mean you can't "enhance" it a little ;)

Agree with Abella on this one - tone down the full on party make-up and go with a more natural look (but dont go completely au-naturale!).
A good way to do the natural look is to wear a good foundation that is around the same colour as your own skin tone (or a bit lighter if you are unsure as it avoids the orange look!). If you dont like foundation, tinted moisturiser is great and gives you a good base for the rest of your make up as it covers any little flaws without making you look like you are caked in makeup.
On top of the foundation a little bronzer always helps, this gives you a healthy glow and sunkissed skin (without actually baking yourself in the sun!) is always sexy. Apply a little to your t-zone and cheeks with a large brush. Then blusher - I really cannot live without blusher and ALL girls look a million times better with it on, it is that sexy slightly flushed look that looks amazing. A little pink blusher on the apples of your cheeks will really make a difference.
Then finish off with mascara - no fake eyelashes but a good coat or 2 of mascara with maybe a little eyeliner on the lower lash line if you like. A highlighter or shimmery pale eyeshadow over the brow bone looks good as this makes your eyes look bigger and glowing.
A bit of clear or pale pink lip gloss as the final touch and that is the perfect natural look without going au naturale!
I hope this helps and good luck!

For a moment I though you meant NO makeup. (Abella mops her brow!)
Then I re-read and understood you wanted to try something in the middle.
Good move.
So cut the glitter.
It's a casual restaurant. Thus full-on glam makeup would be far too much.
And if you are dressed in smart casual clothing, then light makeup is all that is required.
On the day give yourself a nice relaxing mask, remove, then moisturise your skin lightly. Go easy on the mascara. Light lipstick, not fire engine red.
Make sure your nails are in nice condition, no chipped polish. My favorite is that Seacrest brand buffer. No nail polish, and yet my own nails, buffed to smooth and shiny, after I've gone through the steps of buffing my nails.
Glamor makeup has it's place.
Though I agree that heavy makeup looks out of place, if applied for the wrong occasion. Some girls do it to the point where their beautiful perfect skin looks like the Mortition has had their
embalmer use up every last scrap of orange colored powder.
Anything but natural!
Relax, be yourself, and enjoy him treating you like a princess.
