k_c100 agony auntWell it is not possible to have unprotected sex when you are on the pill! The pill is a form of protection (only against pregnancy not STD's). So if you have been taking your pill for the last 21 days without missing any and without being sick etc then you are protected and wont be pregnant.

The pill will cover you even through your 7 day break - just because you stop taking it for 7 days does not mean that the pill stops working. The pill stops you from releasing an egg, therefore when you are on your 7 day break there still will be no egg for any sperm to fertilise. So even though there is a break you are still covered because of the way the pill works. If you feel unsure about anything then read up on the pill online or look at the booklet that comes in the packet with the pill, that will explain how it works and when you are covered.

So just remember - if you are on the pill (and dont miss one) then you are protected against getting pregnant throughout each month you take it.

No, you are fine, as long as you are taking the pill correctly then you should be protected.

If you have been on it for more than a month then you'll see it works by stopping you from producing eggs AS WELL AS making it impossible for them to embed in your womb.

You can take an extra pill and it will do you know harm, it might just delay your period by an extra day.

in fact if you are regular with your periods and you know you have a holiday coming up in a few months and you've worked out you are going to be on your period then it's a useful way of moving it.

By taking a couple of extra pills a month and then going back on it a bit late then month by month you can slowly move your period.

Only do this by one or at the most two pills a month as it's not worth the risk of getting pregnant. Imagine being a that stage where you just look fat rather than pregnant in your bikini! Yuck.

Good Luck!! xx

Nothing is 100% safe, but if you have been taking your pills as instructed by your healthcare worker, and have not missed any or have been sick or taken anti-biotics and have been taking the pill for longer than a month!
