Should I take a pregnancy test or not be too concerned?

A female Bahamas age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I've been on the Evra patch for about 10 months now and my period has come on the last wednesday of every month for about 8 months now, never a day sooner or later. But today I noticed some unexpected spotting, and I'm wondering what this could be? Stress? Side-effect? Birth-control. A few nights ago, I went to the bathroom 6 times in about 2-3 hours, but I chalked that up as anxiety and stress that summer was finally over and 'back to the real world' and I have some light cramping.

I'm not one to cry wolf and say I'm pregnant when I don't know for sure if I am. I always think of that as my last possibility. Just wondering if I should take a pregnancy test or not be too concerned? I'm not that concerned, but I would never want to stay on the patch if I was pregnant and have risks of a miscarriage or birth defects. That's the only thing that does scare me.

Worried or not at all?

The Realist agony auntThere's no harm in taking a test just to be sure but I wouldn't worry about it too much. These same symptoms happened to my gf a while back, she's on a different form of birth control. She took a pregnancy test which came back negative, twice and then it went away after just over a week.

This could be caused by stress or your diet. These things do happen and there really is no explaination for it.

Hope this helps you out.
