The problem is that, because I managed to lose two of my pills (down the sink - clumsy, I know)I'm finishing my pill two days earlier than I should. When my 21 day course is up I'm supposed to have a seven day break. Would it be safe to simply take a two day break, then start my next 21 day course on the day I'm suppose to start (as in day of the week - say, Wednesday)?I have a few things on next week and I would prefer not to be on my monthly for that time. Thank you in advance for an answers given. Reply to this Question Share |

If you take them back to back, depending on the strength of the pills that you are on, you may have some "breakthrough" bleeding, like a light period. Best thing to do is bite the bullet and go and talk about this with the Doctor who prescribed your pill!!!

I'm still confused.

You do not have to break for a period.
The only reason there is a break is because many years ago it was thought that it would seem more natural to still have a period (probably by a man!).
But alas you don't have to have a period at all if you choose just to always take them back to back

You can add to the 21 day cycle by adding a few more days of pills from a new pack, but the 7 day cycle off should NEVER be changed. So take 21 active pills, and then 7 days off, or 25 active pills, and seven days off, or 28 active birth control pills, and then 7 days off - and in this way, you can figure out how to shift your period to a more convenient time. Put the pack that you have stolen the pills from aside so that you can use them as spares in case you drop them in the loo the next time, or for the next time you want to shift your period start date. :^D

erm, check the information leaflet that you get with your pills. If you can't find what you're looking for, why not give NHS Direct a call? You can find their number online.
As far as i'm aware you can just carry straight on with your next 21 days without a break if you don't want to have a period. But i would double check with a proffesional first...
