He has not taught me ever since but over the years we would talk to each other very often and get along very well and we still do. Last year i went to him to help me with personal problems because I trust him and he understands me. He was such great help and I still appreciate it. I have known him for a long time. I want to keep in contact with him as he has had such a great impact on my life and I want to write him a letter thanking him for everythingMy question is: should i keep in contact with him and what can I write in the letter?

p.s. i don't want to keep in contact for romantic purposes (he is in early 40's and married with 2 kids), more like friendship purposes.

I see where CaringGuy is coming from, but she didn't really say she wants any sort of romantic relationship out of this, she just wants to keep in contact with him, which I see no harm in doing as long as he's ok with it as well. As for the letter, write what you just wrote up there, that's the truth isn't it? That would be best. Just say you want to keep in touch while you're off to college or whatever through email or letters or whathave you just to know how he's doing. Hope that helped :)

No, do nothing. Just say thank you, then say goodbye. To stay in contact is to continue living in the past, and it could leave to complications. He is a teacher, you are a student, and that's how it should be and should stay. I know you like him and I know you want to show you're grateful, but this is something that you need to leave in the past.
