One of my friends is having a night out for her birthday on 4th September, bu ti havent seen her for a few years, and there will be a lot of people there that i dont know, and i feel shy in situations where i dont know many people. but, me and the girl who's birthday it will be used to be best friends in school, and we have kept in contact on facebook, although, we havent kept intouch as much recently. she has also missed a couple of my birthdays because she has ahd other plans around the same time. also, its my brothers wedding the week after, so i should be saving up for that. However, another friend of mine has asked me if i want to have a night out in her home town on the 4th of September too. I have never been to that town before, and i would love to go. I'm not sure whether to take that friend along to my other friend's birthday night out, so that at least i will have some company if i dont feel comfortable with everyone else, or should i forget about going out for my friends birthday, and just go to my other friend's home town ?. The thing is, my friend went out with me to the town where my other friend is going for her birthday, but it was pretty quiet then, so she didn't enjoy it. not many people were out for some reason, and plus, she has been to see me a few times, whereas i havent been to see her in her home town at all yet, so i feel i should go there. That friend also said that she thinks we should catch up, just me and her. She is also going to organize a night out in my home town, as a group, a couple of weeks after my brother's wedding.I'm definately going to that one. All these three towns are quite a distance from each other. What should i do ?.

Go to the birthday party for the friend you've not seen for some time, and try taking that other friend of yours. That's probably the best option out of all this. If nothing else, you'll know where your friendship with your old schoolfriend is going.
