A female Ireland age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I've liked a guy for a couple of months now and he's a great friend and fun to be around. There is 2 problems. One he's liked the same girl for 61/2 years. I don'tknow how to deal with this.

Second, I think my best friend likes him. She is the one who intrduced me to him at a party. SHe denies liking him every time i ask but i don't beleive her. She says it's a guy she met at work that she likes. I worked with her up and till about 2 months ago when ias promoted and the only new person is the one who replaced me, who is a girl (she's anti-gay). She won't tell me his name.

A reader, anonymous, writes (13 January 2010):

She said no so don't worry about it, if she'd said yes then you couldn't.

I'm not sure about him liking the same girl for so long though, personally I wouldn't want to get involved with a person like that, too big a risk of always feeling second best and that's not a nice feeling.

You asked your friend whether she likes him, and she said no. So ask this guy out and see where it leads
