If I purchase a condo under my name and decide that my boyfriend would live with me later on, would it be wiser to just have him sign with me as opposed to just myself? I am planning to propose to him next year but he doesn't know it yet. Reply to this Question Share |
Fancy yourself as an agony aunt? Add your answer to this question! A

Sometimes people who live together buy a place together but it is stupid to do this if you pay for far more than them.
If your guy earns a lot less than you and cannot contribute towards things as much as you maybe you should rethink the whole idea of living with him and marrying him.
Rather than end up keeping him for many years.
Why has he not suggested paying towards it already? Anyone can fancy owning half a condo, they ought to be equally keen on and able to pay for half of it.

Yep i agree with the other Aunts. Buy it yourself so that you own it, and don't put his name on it.

No no, don't buy a condo with your boyfriend.
You can always add his name to the deed once you are married. Much safer .

Amen to Code Warrior's post.
Don not BUY it together. If you LATER marry, you can decide to add his name to the deed and he will thus be responsible and also part owner.
Living together? Well, I think that can work out. Just don't put his name on things YOU own.
