The basic living wage (enough to afford a one bedroom) is 25/hr. But I applied for a job (working with autistic children, which is relevant to my field) and was offered a starting wage of 18/hr. Though it is a wage increase and I would be gaining valuable experience (and I was impressed with the working environment and would have better hours) I am ashamed to say that at my current job new hires are already being offered 18/hr coming in, and when we're doing the exact same job, but me being there for five years still making 15, and no future in it either. I am good friends with some of my Co workers and I will miss them. Should I accept the new job?

Accept the job. You need to put yourself first and do what is best for you.

Yes, accept it. It seems like the only positive thing un your current job is yoir colleagues- but maybe the new colleagues will be nice too :). And anyway you can always stay in touch with the old ones, you do not necessarily have to lose them completely.
