I turned down a job with BA to take up a management job. Now I am hating it. I love the money but no longer the job.I have interst from Virgin and they want to interview me but it will mean taking a £24,000 drop in salary. I am sure I could work my way up with Virgin with my skills and experience - Any wise comments welcomed.

I am nearly 50 and there are so many things I wanted to do when i was younger but I was so restless and my track record was not good. I have now done 13 years in Local Government and 10 of those teaching. I feel its time to reward myself with some thing fun while I still have some energy.
Thanks for helping me make the right decision. I can always do things to supplement my income if need be.
LOL

Which is more important to you , money or happiness?
If you can get along with less money and it is not a problem, then you should go for happiness.
You only live once.

Look, you don't get many opportunities to be happy, and remember, you can't replace lost time. You can always get more money. Ok, I know the economy sucks right now, but everyone gets a new job eventually and you can probably get another lucrative job in the future.
Is this Virgin, as in Virgin Airlines?
Ok, maybe the job isn't particularly lucrative, but there are perks you all get for free, right? Stuff like trips to other countries? People pay the big bucks for stuff like that.
It would be nice to own a Ferrari, but no one was ever old and dying and lamented, on their deathbed, "Oh man I wish I had owned more expensive cars."
I say go for it!!

Do you want to be able to afford more, expensive things; but dread going to your job? Or do you want to love going to your job, and take a hit in pay?
Another question to ask, is what if your dream job isn't what you think it is. My uncle did that...always wanted to be a truck driver, got the training and became one, lasted only two weeks and quit. You need to compare your options, and see what exactly you want and are willing to do.

You hate the job, but love the money. That's understandable. But, let's face it, the dream matters more. You said yourself that you want to work in the cabin crew. If that's what you want, and you can do it, then go for it.
