 Of course you should give it a try. Ask her to go do something fun with you. In case she's worried about the age thing, don't make it sound too much like a date, but more like two people going to do something fun together.
That way she can get to know you better and maybe the age thing won't really matter.
The worse thing that could happen would NOT be to be shot down, but to miss an opportunity at happiness.

don't get to wrapped in it - she might say no. So be prepared (it always smarts) but unless you try, you never know... go for it.
