I went to the doctor because I thought I had ear infections and tonsillitis, which I didn't I got diagnosed with hay fever or really really bad allergies that cause liquid behind my ears and the bacteria from my nose causes sore throats with puss pockets. I was put on claritin to help with the allergies but it is making my nose very dry and it seems like I have more gunk, for lack of a less graphic term, in my nose. It is causing me to have blood and blood clots and getting sores in my nose. I tried the saline spray but that doesn't do anything and I tried face moisturizer up my nose which helps but the fumes take my breath away. Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks for any help! I'm sorry I keep forgetting that you Americans have to take health insurance into consideration.
Can you not just ask for advise from your local drug store or would they charge you for that too?

SugarCookie is verified as being by the original poster of the questionThank you to those who helped. As far as Armymedic I dont have health insurance and it was expensive enough to go to the first time. I have also heard that dry nose is not a reason to stop the medication just use something to help with the side effects!

Here's a CRAZY idea; look at the packet on your medication, it will give advise on it if you are having side effects, it will probably say something along the lines of: Stop taking the medication and seek medical advice.
So do that, seek medical advice!

Believe it or not, allergies can be improved dramatically by how you eat. To what extent are you willing to alter your eating habits to get yourself better? I used to suffer badly from allergies as a kid. I am over 50 now. My entire adult life I've never owned a dog or cat because I thought my allergies prevented me from doing so. In 2003 I started following the nutritional advice of Dr. Joel Fuhrman. I'd say my allergies are about 85% better now. For a while I was even volunteering at an animal shelter and bathing all kinds of filthy dogs without any problems. You can improve your overall health, or you can go to your typical doctor who just wants to give you shots and pills or things to squirt up your nose. Your choice.

Go back to the doctor and tell him, he may be able to give you something else! X
