a girl i like said she would go out with me if i ever asked her out but she knows i wouldn't because she's 14 and i'm 16. So is she too young for me? She flirts and talks alot to me and tells me she loves me.

RaeRaeMcGee agony auntOf course it's ok to date her. In fact I don't even think there is too much of a difference in your maturity levels due to the fact that she is female and you are male. You both are very young but relationships with that diffence in age happen every day, often enough there is a much greater difference in age.

However your relationship develops sexually is ok as long as you guys love and respect each othere as well.

i can see why your asking this question, i think if you and this girl really like each other then you should ask her out, the only thing i would say is dont have sex until she has reached 16 as we all know that against the law to have sex with an under age irl/ boy. best wishes and keep me up dated xxx

YummyMummy agony auntYeah it is ok to date her but you would be breaking the law if sexual things take place as it wouldn't be legal.

A female reader, kristinakutie United States +, writes (15 July 2007):

kristinakutie agony auntok wow. ya i was in that same uhm situation.. i was 14, he was 16. you really need to be careful with what you do with her, because not only is it illegal, but shes younger and more i guess fragile.. ok enough lecturing you on that, but yes you can date her, just dont do anything sexual, unless you keep it between the 2 of you ONLY.. no friends, family, anyone.. cuz its bound to slip sometime, and that would be the worst thing.. cuz then you would get into trouble, even if she didnt press charges or anything.. you would still get into trouble.. well.. hope that kinda helped..

A female reader, anonymous, writes (15 July 2007):

you would have to be a bit careful about this one! the reason being is that as you already know she is under age, so it would depend how far you would want to take things in a sexual manner (if you know what i mean) because im sure you know you would be breaking the law. if you do decide to go out with her i would make sure that her parents know about you and your age just in case there were any come backs. and when she tells you that she loves you, well it wont be actual love but more of a crush, she is to young in my opinion to understand the love thing!
