She can't decide whether she wants to be with her abusive ex or me

so i have been seeing this girl for almost 2 years, 1 year into it she wanted to take a break,this only lasted two weeks , moving foward a couple of weeks ago she tells me she has had thoughts that it would be better for son to try and work things out with his dad. these thoughts scare her she said because of the abuse she went through with this guy, during the same conversation she also told me that that she loves me and cant imagine life without me that no one has ever made her feel the way i do. she said she knows in her heart i am the one. my question is why wont she commit and if i feel she is the one should i wait for her
