Sexual terminology help needed!

Question - (26 July 2009) 10 Answers - (Newest, 28 July 2009)
A female United States age 51-59, anonymous writes:

Sorry for may be a little odd question. But it is really important to me right now. English is not my first language and I have never dated English-speaking man until now. Everything is going just great and we had sex for the first time yesterday. I am a little insecure in terms of verbalizing my thoughts and desire because of a small language barrier and because I have never used sexual terminology in my life in English. So, here is my odd question :) What is common to call a penis in bed? "D**k", "c**k"? Is it a dirty talk? Is it OK to just call it "penis" or does that sound too plain? What's dirtier "d**k" or "c**k"? What do men prefer it to be called? And what do men prefer to hear in bed?

Thank you in advance for all the answers.

Thank you everybody for your answers!!!

Old Guy, that is really a long and funny list..LOL

Sincerely Yours, I also never heard of pr**k used for this here in US. And "penis" sounds pretty hot to me :-)

heartfullalove, thank you for a great answer. This is exactly what I was looking for. I've lived in US for 13 years, so my English is not bad. The problem is that I communicate well at work, but never even socialized with Americans much before. So it's a different slice vocabulary I've never used. Sometimes it's not clear to me if something will sound silly or way too clinical like Old Guy has mentioned. Taking the words "gorgeous" and "beautiful", for example, I'd think those were used more for anything related to a female. So thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!

Uncle Phil, thanks! I am not really much into nicknames, but will consider. And "Max" sounds very creative and special :-)

Again, thanks everybody!

Talking of giving it a name - an acquaintance of mine called mine Max, after Maxwell House coffee. She reckoned it was good until the last drop. That was some years ago though.

Whatever term you settle on ('c**k' 'd**k' and 'pr**k' would seem to be by far the most common epithets) it might help to preface it with lavishly praising adjectives such as 'massive', 'gorgeous' 'great big', 'huge', 'enormous' 'beautiful' 'mouth-watering' etc. etc. (provided you mean it!) That way, he won't be in much doubt about how much you love and appreciate it.

Also, you write English very impressively, congratulations! If you can write, you can talk. Good luck!!

If you're not sure, you could always call it his "thing". Call it his "big thing", and he will love you even more.

I didn't know p****k was a term for that Uncle. I guess I am out of the loop. That's a word I call men when I am really, really pissed off or appauled at their unacceptable behaviour. I Learn something new.. most days at least. Not yesterday though..

I think the commonest terms would be prick, dick or cock. All equally exotic/erotic when issued from a woman's mouth at the height of passion! Penis is a definite no-no. 'It' is probably acceptable as well - as in 'give it to me big boy!'

Well my husband and I use the word "penis" but we're a rather odd and conservative couple and due to the way we've both heard these terms used by our friends, we prefer more respetful terms.

But the one i see most aorund this site from young men asking questions, is d**k but to me, c**k sounds more dirty because it is used in insults such as c**k su**er. Your man is not gauranteed to be like the men who will response to you today, but I think you will find that eventually, you will hear him use one of the words and then you will know for a fact. If you don't want to ask him that is.

goodluck!

Good question. Unfortunately you won't find an answer that works for everyone.

I'd be very surprised if anyone thought the word 'penis' was suitable for use in the bedroom -- way too clinical. Otherwise, there are easily a hundred other terms:

Your guy will let you know what he's comfortable with, if anything. I've never found the need to refer to it, myself -- it seems to be able to speak for itself. ;)
