I eat normally quite healthy, but to be honest, iv rarley ever exercised, mainting my weight purely through diet. I was thinking that jogging would be best, to tone and generally lose the weight, but im not wanting to change the natural,'curvy' shape of my legs..i just want to trim and tone, but knowing absoultly nothing about exercise I have no idea how to go about this, or how long to expect to see better results. Due to where I live, going to the gym isn't really an option, and im not interested in gadjets and quick fixes, i'm wanting some sort of routine that i can build simply into my everyday life, taking up a maximum of 40minutes a day. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions or personal experiences that would help me on my way and point me generally in the right direction, or if the simpliest way would be simply to jog??Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.Thank you for taking the time to read this =] Reply to this Question Share |

Its a shame going to the gym isnt an option for you - I have managed to really tone up my legs and bum through a couple of machines at the gym - the stepper and doing weights with my legs. I have lost inches from doing this, and the stepper is really amazing! I guess you could try using your stairs at home but there wont be any resistance this way so I'm not sure how effective it will be? Worth a try though!
Jogging is probably your best option, but this wont really give you a "lifting" effect on your bum, it will just slim you down all over. You will need to be running around 3 times a week to make a difference. Start off by just running at intervals - so try 3-5 minutes running and then 3 minutes walking. Or some say that it is best to run until you cant anymore, then walk for a couple of minutes and start again.
Bupa has a training room website which gives you free advice and training plans to help you achieve your goals, they are really worth taking a look at:

It is definately easier to have a training plan with a goal to work to (even if you dont want to compete in a 5k or 10k, it is still a good idea to be physically fit enough to run one). If you get to the stage where you can run a 10k then I am pretty certain you will have an amazing body!
Squats might also be a good idea for you, this really tones up the bum and thighs. Try googling leg and bum exercises and this should bring up some other exercises for you to try!
Hope this helps!

Or squats in high heals or with extra weight. Rollerblading is good and kickboxing/taebo is great. Best of luck. I have your body type and current problem as well. I know how to get the results I desire, I've just been too lazy lately.
