As such, I was always picked-on for being the ugly duckling, but I'm trying to put that all behind me.Right now, I've grown my hair out to probably medium-length. My hair is really thick and wavy, and hangs about eye-length naturally (probably closer to my lips if I ironed it).I'm trying to decide, do I go with something short and a little more clean-cut? Or do I let it grow? Keep in mind that I have red-hair, because that really does make quite a lot of difference. Also, I have a really large, muscular (and a bit heavy) frame.I seem to get a lot of mixed feedback; some girls think I should stick with short-hair, saying that long-hair is goofy and out-of-style, and that it would make me look heavier. Others, though, say it would look better, and that since my hair is red, it looks kind of bad when it's short.Just be totally unbiased; what do you guys think? Reply to this Question Share |

i like long hair on guys with the following rules:
NO balding... he must have a full head of hair.. nothing as ulgy as a skullet...
it must be CLEAN at all times..washed and dried daily if necessary.
it must be TRIMMED and well kept at all times... that means trims every couple of months... no scraggly ends...
this does not mean it has to be in a ponytail but it should be NEAT... and BRUSHED...
wear your hair the way you want.

I love long hair on males! I guess anything to do with an expression of personal style (be it what clothes you wear, how you style your hair etc) all comes down to how you carry it.
Do what works for you. There's no point trying to please anyone but yourself.

Personally I am a big fan of long hair on males ( young males , I am not at all so crazy about the " hey I was at Woodstock too " look ). BUT : long hair are more hair, and more hair are very visible, eye catching hair, and if they are very visible and eye catching they have to be very nice hair. And very well cared for. So, thick, healthy, shiny. No receiding hairlines, thinning tops or split ends. No bushy , out of control manes. The colour is not a problem, red hair rock, - but perhaps it would work better if you had very straight hair , or very curly.
Long , wavy hair tend to be a bit shapeless , a bit " bottom heavy " . It also depends from the look you go for, or you feel more comfortable with. Big, muscular and and heavy with long hair suggests kind of a lumberjack or 80's roadie look, which can be cute, don't get me wrong,- but if you aspire to look sleek or sophisticated or hipsterish, then no.
All in all, I'd invest in a good hairstylist that can suggest a cut which brings out and compliments your features ( and is a bit distinctive if this is what you want ). Short hair does not necessarily means boring or dork, the right short hair can make you very edgy and sexy. IF , after a couple of tries, you still aren't satisfied , and still feel the call of long hairs, then by all means let them grow. After all, once all fashion advice has been given, the most important thing is that YOU feel good in your skin - and in your hair.

Whether it's "in style" or not doesn't really matter. What matters is what works for your facial features. Some guys really rock long hair. Others look better with it short. I'd have to see pictures to decide what I'd recommend to you.
One rule of the thumb with long hair: you need to have strong facial features, preferably with somewhat of a defined jaw. Your hair line should not be receding back a lot, as long hair will only draw attention to that. An example of people who look good with long hair: Brandon Lee, Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, Eugen Bauder, Gabriel Aubrey, Jason Mamoa, etc. There are many more, but these are just a few I can think of from the top of my head. They all have strong facial features in common. So if you have that too, long hair probably suits you. It being red may actually even be better as it's a distinctive, beautiful color.
As for the cut, depending on the texture of your hair I would not keep it at one length. It can drag down your face a lot. A few layers helps in that department.
In the end, it's all about what you like best. What do YOU prefer?

Some women like long hair, some women don't. You should wear your hair the way YOU like it most, instead of trying to please strangers.
If you don't like the fact that you have red hair, you can always dye it. :-)
