eddie agony auntI think the list of the qualities we look for in a mate changes with age and experience. There are different ways of meeting people. Mostly, I think we are attracted by appearance, that across the room glance type of thing. After we meet though everything changes. Really, we learn so much as the reltionship evolves. We learn about the persons past, dreams, experiences etc.

I've been married almost 21 years. My wife is very pretty and gets noticed all the time. The people that notice her see the beauty. I know the rest of the story. She's funny, smart, great mom, great cook, likes thing clean and tidy, repectful, honest, realistic, strong. She grew up poor in the caribbean and has developed a way of understanding what is really important in life. she doesn't sweat the small stuff. She is a complete package. As our relationship grows, I've discovered that the beautiful package she's wrapped up in is just icing on the cake. All the important stuff is inside.

I've often wondered what I'd do if I was ever single again. I know what type of body type I'm generally attracted to but at the same time I've learned it's what inside that is important. We're generally fit people so I'd probably prefer someone who's in good shape but I'd probably be more open minded than I would have been 20 years ago.

With relationships , i need to be able to trust the guy im with, completely. its important for me to feel safe, stable and cared for. my perfect guy must be musically inclined. I do not trust men who are not somewhat dedicated to an instrument.. my perfect guy is in my head.. i wonder if he'll come along someday.....hmmmm..

personality and looks are big factors, but personality weighs more... also i think that for me to really fall for a guy, he must have goals and would want to have personal achievements.. im attracted to that.. big time. looks wise, id go with Tall, long hair.. ehhh yeah... heres hoping he comes along real soon...

A reader, anonymous, writes (12 November 2006):

This is just my opinion but what I look for in a women to begin with (physically) is eyes and then build which is tall and thin. This is because eye contact can be a form of intimacy whilst the tall/thin build is because I'm tall so i don't feel as tall when I'm with my partner.

Personality is just as important, I like them to have a sense of humour but also caring and I'd like it if she was more intelligent than me.

Although you never mentioned, since I'm not judgemental, I wouldn't care if something bad happened to her in her past (well I would care but it wouldn't affect how I feel about her).
