Question - (10 April 2012) 15 Answers - (Newest, 14 April 2012)
A female United Kingdom age 30-35, *raelia V writes:

So my best friend and I began writing a book last year answering questions that men around us have been asking about women.

Why does my mum cry but have no idea why she's crying? Why do women get very defensive and angry sometimes even though they're not on their period?

Why does my boyfriend ask if I'm okay every five minutes just because I'm not smiling like the Cheshire cat?

Why are most men really laid back?

Stuff like this.

We want to hear any questions from anyone that they have always wanted answered.

It's a book so ask as many questions you like whether it's one or one thousand.

We really want to see what people want to know.

Thank you

Why do so many people (men and women) "commit" to a monogamous relationship, then turn around and cheat? Why get engaged, married, etc. if you don't really want a relationship like that?

Are humans predisposed to be in monogogamous relationships, or are they predisposed towards having multiple partners?

Is the concept of marriage and "until death do us part" unnatural, and therefore bound to fail in many or most cases?

Is love anything more than a complex biochemical/electrical state of a very complex computer? (our brains)

Other female anonymous-

I'm the female anon who responded to Cerberus's questions. I said I wasn't the best woman to answer the questions, but I thought it would be fun to try. The reason I think I'm not the best one to answer is because I'm not a normal woman. I don't wear makeup, I wear mainly t-shirts and jeans, I don't go tanning, I'm naturally underweight and wish I could gain some (I'm 23 but look like I'm 15), and I only shower every other day. And I grew up with all men, and haven't had a female friend in years. Anyway, I was mainly referring to insecure women in my answers. Good for you for not being like that. :) Life is too short.

Female Anonymous

I dont agree with some you have said in those answers

re women so I guess its different views for different women which is natural

Myself and friends admire good looking women, we do not get jealous or bitchy, its arrogant or vain women we dont like. The most beautiful people dont go round saying 'look at me am stunning' if they did theyd be v lonely

Asking your man if you look fat etc in something is just to re-assure before heading out someplace together You ask your mates the same 'does this look ok or this one' or the hair or make-up

Afraid of getting old? Because they dont want to be invisible - the media worships youth and youthfulness or promotes movie stars who look amazing @ 60 - not the average joe

The fake tan makes us feel good, healthy and glowing not pale or aneamic

Just my views.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (11 April 2012):

Wow, these are some great questions! Especially Cerberus. I'm not the best woman to answer these but I'll do the best I can. I am a woman afterall (even if I don't generally think and act like one), how hard can it be?

Why do women ask questions they don't want a truthful answer to? (Am I fat? is she better looking than me? etc.)

These are more like rhetorical questions. If a woman asks these, it's because she has low self esteem. She believes she's fat and not as pretty as the woman she thought she saw you looking at. What she doesn't realize is that she noticed the "prettier" woman long before you did. And she will continure to notice her long after you've lost interest.

Why do you think wearing fake tan makes you look better, when no guy likes it, it always looks fake and tacky, looks horrendous in photos and rarely matches your foundation?

It's the media. Women see all these "perfect" tanned women on t.v., movies, and magazines and assume they have to be tan and wear makeup to be hot. Young girls in high school see the "popular" girls who have this artificial look getting loads of attention from guys but what they don't seem to understand is that guys look at girls like that for one reason only. SEX. They know these girls are easy, and all they have to do is sweet talk them a little and they'll spread their legs.

Why are you women so quick to tear down other women who are not afraid to openly admit they're beautiful?

Because women are naturally competitive creatures and are very jealous of women they think are more attractive than them.

Why do women think that being as thin as a 14 year old boy with no ass, nor shape to their body is the ideal version of beauty?

Because they see women like this getting attention from guys. It may be the wrong kind of attention, but that's not important to them. Take Bibi Jones as an example. She's potrayed to be one of the hottest porn stars right now, and she's stick skinny with huge implants. Women see men paying attention to women like her, but what they fail to realize is these men are not in the majority. The number of guys who actually think that look is attractive is smaller than they think. But because they don't realize that, they assume that look is the hottest. Again, it's all about competition. A woman wants her man to view her as hotter than his favorite porn star. And if she sees his favorite is stick skinny, then she'll think that's how she needs to look.

Why are women so afraid of growing old?

Because they associate being old with being ugly. They are afraid of the day when they can look around a crowded room, and see that every other woman there is younger and prettier than them. They are afraid of the day when they can no longer compete with other women.

Why are women so jealous of each other and downright nasty to each other?

I honestly believe it's in their nature. They are born to compete with one another.

Why do women think it's acceptable for an ugly woman to have her pictures posted nude in magazines, calling her brave and beautiful, and not find it acceptable for a beautiful model to pose nude, calling her a bad influence on young girls and as causing objectification?

Because they see the "ugly" nude woman and think it will encourage a more realistic standard of beauty. They see the "beautiful model" and it makes them feel insecure, because magazine photos are altered to make the already beautiful model look completely perfect. That drives a lot of women (both ugly and beautiful) crazy, because they know they can't compete with perfection.

What is it about big boobs that fascinates you so much and causes so many of you to butcher your tits with implants?

Many women with small or average sized boobs have the misfortune of only meeting men who prefer large boobs. So they assume that just because the men they dated happened to prefer large boobs means all men do. They make unfair generalizations about men based on their own experiences.

What's so wrong with having a little bit of extra-weight?

There's nothing wrong with it. The women who think this have either been dating really shallow guys who think all the "perfect" women they see in porn are more attractive than natural women, or perhaps they were made fun of in their childhood for being overweight and it stuck with them. I think with this one, it could be a lot of different things.

What's so wrong with breastfeeding in public?

I'm guessing a lot of people would consider it public indecency because the woman has her boob exposed? I'm not really sure about this one.

Why is it that when a woman comments on a guys ass that's just harmless fun but if a guy comments on a girls tits, he's cast down as a sleaze?

I think it's because in general women are way more senstitive than men. So when a man comments about a woman's body parts, he's deemed an "asshole" or a "sleaze" because he said something that could potentially make her uncomfortable. Men, on the other hand, would just take the freaking compliment.

Why do you stay with a guy who abuses you mercilessly?

I have a theory that it has to do with genetics just like being competitive. It seems a lot of women are naturally attracted to "bad boys". Even if the woman has too much self-respect to tolerate such vile behavior from a man, she will still catch herself being attracted to the type of man who has no respect for women. It doesn't matter that she's smart enough not to date this type of man in real life, the attraction is still there. Some women just choose to ignore it because they know better.

Where the hell did you get the idea that love conquers all?

They got it from watching fairytales and romantic movies.

Why is it that the biggest reason, as quoted in studies, that a woman feels it acceptable to cheat is because she's having problems in her relationship?

Both men and women do this. It's because humans aren't naturally monogamous, so ones who don't practice self control look for any excuse they can to be unfaitful. I think since women are more sensitive than men, they naturally feel more guilt about it so they jusify it to themselves (and others) by saying "he doesn't give me what I need so I had to go outside the relationship."

Why do so many women think it's okay to get with a man who's already spoken for on the grounds that he's unhappy in his relationship?

It's back to the whole competition thing. Every moment that man spends with her is a moment he is choosing her over his significant other, and some women really like the ego boost.

What makes women think that a cheater who is cheating with them won't cheat on them?

Some women are naive and ignorant enough to believe they can be the one to change the man. They are too busy enjoying all the lines the man is feeding them to realize he says it to all the women he finds attractive and she's no one special.

Why do you always want to know what we're thinking straight after sex? and then get pissed off if the answer is anything except "you" or "how lucky I am to have you"?

If they ask this question, it's because they are worried that their man fantasizes about other women during sex. So if their man doesn't say "you" the woman automatically assumes he was thinking about someone else even if he wasn't.

Why do you let boyfriends "who don't like wearing condoms" pressure you into having unsafe sex? (the biggest reason for unwanted pregnancies as shown in recent US studies)

The woman just wants to have sex with the man who said he didn't wanna use a condom, so she doesn't control her urges and while "in the moment" she doesn't care about the consequences.

Why do you think it's acceptable to kiss other guys while in a relationship as long you don't initiate it and you eventually stop him?

It's a way of kidding herself into thinking as long as she doesn't initiate it, she's not doing anything wrong. Like I said before, I think female cheaters feel more guilt than their male counterparts. So they come up with ways to justify it to themselves.

Why is it than when a guy friend tells you that the guy you're interested in is only interested in sex do you twist that into meaning we're saying that you're worth nothing more than sex and getting pissed at us for trying to warn you?

The woman doesn't wanna hear that the man she wants to be with only wants her for sex. So she gets all defensive and lashes out at her friend. She wants to believe the man returns her feelings so badly that she won't listen to anyone that says otherwise.

Why do you prefer to look for hints and signs of interest than simply ask us if we are interested?

A lot of women assume men won't tell them the truth. So instead of asking, they look for signs.

Why do you girls think we'll want anything more from you if all we want in the beginning is casual sex?

If the woman has feelings for the man who wants casual sex, she hopes he will change his mind and want a relationship.

What makes a girl think we'll want more from her if she sleeps with us on the first date? Why run the race when you get the medal for free?

This is a case of she didn't think before she acted. She most likely regrets sleeping with him right away, but hopes he will get to know her anyway and learn to want more from her. Although this is never the case, false hope gets them through it.

Why is it that you have fought so hard to be our equals yet still expect guys to pay for everything and use the term "a gentleman knows how to treat a lady" when chivalry is an act of ownership, and comes from a time when women were our property?

Women who do that are lazy. They don't want to work for a living so they find a man who will pay for everything. They wanted to be treated as equals, but don't wanna have to work for it. In other words, they want to have their cake and eat it too. Both genders have their share of selfish people, and this is a perfect example of a selfish woman.

Why do you get so pissed when we notice another woman, who is wearing next to nothing and you noticed her too?

Once again, it's a woman's competitive nature. She wants to be the best in her man's eyes. And when he looks at another, she starts to question if he thinks he can do better than her. Some women learn to control this over time, and some even learn to block it out completely. Others will live their whole life and be miserable worrying about it even though it's not a big deal. A man is always going to notice other attractive women (especially in a state of semi-undress) no matter how "in love" he is.

Why is it that women expect to receive head as a given but feel a guy who won't accept that they don't want to give head back is a controlling asshole?

For the same reason some men like to be given head but won't return the favor. Some people hate giving oral sex, but love recieveing it. Women call the men who won't go down on them "controlling assholes" as a way to guilt and manipulate them into doing what they want.

Why have you not debunked the myth that lasting as long as possible in bed is the most desired outcome, when 10-20 minutes is the true ideal for most women?

A woman with no common sense?

Why won't you tell us the reason you're pissed off so we can solve it?

Some women think men can read minds.

Why do you remember every little stupid thing we said and then throw it back in our faces months, even years later when we have an argument?

To win the argument. A lot of women like to have the last word in an argument so they'll bring stuff up to make the man feel bad so he'll cave and say she's right and he's wrong. Or perhaps what he said really stuck with her so she brings it up because it still pisses her off?

Why do you wear low-cut tops if guys staring at your boobs bothers you so much?

It doesn't bother women like they say it does. In fact, they love it. They would totally go home and cry if they went out in a low cut top and didn't get attention from men. They just say it bothers them to make themselves not seem needy and desparate.

Why do you put so much effort into looking beautiful going out then getting pissed off that it works so well that people end up objectifying you?

Women only get pissed off if they're not getting attention from the men they want it from. If men they find unattractive give them attention, they get offended but if they like the man it's a different story.

Sorry if my answers weren't satisfying, but I did th best I could. Those questions really made me think. I guess there's a reason I hang out with men and not women...

A male reader, anonymous, writes (11 April 2012):

Why do so many people accuse people of the gender of being hypocrite based on the words and actions of different people of the other gender?

For example, someone hears two women say they are not attracted to abusive men, but then sees a third woman involved in a relationship with an abusive man, and concludes that women in general are attracted to abusive men, but they just say they aren't?

Or, a person hears two men say they think cheating on their spouse is disgusting, but then sees a third man who does cheat, and conclude all men cheat and lie about it?

The same question goes for people of a particular political party, race, religion, etc. In other words, why do we tend to think that an entire group of people are inconsistent or hypocrites just because different people within the group have different beliefs and act differently than other people in the "group"?

A male reader, anonymous, writes (11 April 2012):

Why do women seem to control the supply of sex when there are about the same number of men and women on the planet?

Why do so many people conflate the concept of equality or worth as a human being with biological identity of function? (i.e. why do so many people think that because two people have equal value as humans that they must therefore function identically in terms of how they think, view the world, etc.?)

Why do so many women decide they don't really love their husbands after all and have affairs after about 10 years of marriage and kids? (I'm not saying men don't, but I more or less understand why men do it)

How much of the difference between men and women is due to biology, and how much of it is due to environment?

Do orgasms feel different for men and women?

Are women and men really that much different in the sense that women (supposedly) need to feel secure, loved, etc. and need time to get aroused and enjoy sex, whereas men can (supposedly) get aroused instantly and have sex anytime, anywhere, with anyone, etc.?

Who tends to be more controlling in relationships, men or women?

How much of a typical women's expressed interest in sex is done to attract a man, and how much of it is just raw lust? How much of a typical man's expressed feelings for a woman is real, and how much of it is done to get sex?

To what extent, if any, is it true that women are more interested in personality and men are more interested in looks?

Is being attracted to someone because of personality traits less shallow and more virtuous than being attracted based on looks?

If men are more interested in looks for purely biological reasons, and women are more interested in personality for purely biological reasons (something neither sex has control over), does that mean women are just born more virtuous than men due to having more virtuous, less shallow DNA?

If men and women are different due to the environment they are raised in (something neither sex has control over), does that mean women are more virtuous than men or visa-versa?

If the stereotypes of men and women are true at least to some extent, can man and women simply choose to change themselves to be more virtuous in the eyes of the opposite sex?

Why do women say stuff like say what you mean and mean what you say then do the exact opposite?

Why say you don't mind us going out on the lash with the lads then get all moody when we turn up at home drunk? it was the point of going out!!

Why do most women need near constant reassurance about everything? its tiring and boring!

Why do women feel the need to text a million times a day about all sorts of crap that we've no interest in?

If you sleep with a bloke on the first date why are you suprised that they have little trust or respect for you?

Why are you suprised when we act angrily towards another man that you are openly flirting with?

Why say it dosen't matter when it does?

why do women think its ok to get something going with someone else before you break up with a bloke and why act so suprised when we say we'll shoe him if we see him?

Why cant some women just be polite if you dont want to talk to someone?

Why do you assume we want to jump your bones just because we say hi to you?
